The Newseum

Spending a day at the Newseum is just not enough. There are many amazing exhibits and photographs in the museum. These are a few photographs I took on the Terrace, at the 9-11 exhibit where the antenna off one of the Twin Towers is displayed, and the Pulitzer Prize  exhibit.

DC: Week Six

Week 6 in DC.......... Was filled with lots of Jazz Events. John Santos and his band performed one evening and also hosted a Drum Workshop at the Smithsonian. I also was able to visit a few art galleries where I saw a Jackson Pollack. And the rest of my week was spent having an amazing time at the Smithsonian. Everyday after work, I took a walk around the Mall, where the other photographs were taken. Can I just say how much I LOVE this internship!!!!!!!

Jazz Appreciation at the Anacostia Museum

April = Jazz Appreciation Month..... This afternoon the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum  hosted the Howard University Jazz Ensemble for a concert. I was able to photograph the event and talk to the musicians. These are just a few shots that I took before and during the performance. More to come from the Smithsonian's Jazz Appreciation Month.

DC: Week Five

Well Week 5 in DC was interesting to say the least, with the question of will we or won't we shut down. I spent a lot of time in the studio and on Friday had a little fun with some 4x5 cameras and some polaroid film. Through the week I went to the Smithsonian Castle, the Fish Market and since the government avoided a shut down, the Cherry Blossom Parade.

DC: Week Four

Week 4 in DC.......... After going through all of the photographs I took this week. It was a night shooting kind of a week. I went out several nights this week to photograph the city to gain a different perspective. I think the city takes on a whole new persona at night. With all the reflections and lights the entire city comes alive in a new way. I also was able to see a concert on The Mall during the National Walk for Epilepsy. During every week, I take many photographs whether I am working or just taking a walk and seeing what I can find. More to come from every experience during this amazing internship at the Smithsonian.

Share Your Strength

For our first and last assignment for the semester, we had to pair up with a graphic design and together create a national campaign. I had an amazing partner Kaleb Duggan. I handled the photography and the video and Kaleb handled all the graphics and the overall design. We decided to create a campaign for the company Share Our Strength, which fights children's hunger. We came up with the idea of many different people sharing their strength to help others. No matter who you are and no matter where you come from, you have your own strength and that is the base for our entire campaign. Thank You Kaleb for this incredible design.

The Video:
As well as photographs, we had to create a 15 second video for the campaign.
